The Chainsmokers went from being an obscure musical DJ and production duo to a household name in just a few short years but just how did these two first decide to form a musical group? Alex Pall recently sat down for an interview to discuss the origins of the band, how they handle their fame and fortune, and where they plan to go in the future of their career. The two first met in New York when Taggart was matriculating at a local university and Pall was a fledgeling DJ taking any gig he could get at the time. Pall’s manager arranged their first meeting and, from there, they began working together on a regular basis. They could tell how serious each other was about making music which was how they knew they would work well together.

A couple years later, they dropped their first hit single, Selfie. This led to a string of hit songs and, before they knew it, their fame had become prevalent. They are an exception to the rule because, unlike most DJs, they actually sing on their own songs but Pall insists it’s important since the lyrics of their songs pertain to him. When discussing their fellow collaborator, Halsey, Pall said she’s a unique artist with a style all her own and that’s the kind of artist they want to continue working with in the future. As for their demographic, it used to be mostly students in college but it has since expanded to include people of all ages.
Nevertheless, they don’t take it for granted as he stated that he is grateful for everyone who loves and listens to their music. He then explained how their live shows have grown and evolved alongside the music industry. Unlike some artists, they actually do sing live during their concerts and this is something they are quite proud of. And they have no plans to take a hiatus as they believe things just wouldn’t be the same when they returned. So we wish them the best of luck in the future of their career and hope they have continued success.
