Securus Technologies has recently announced that it has received official accreditation from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) along with an A+ rating, the highest rating given out by the BBB.


This is a major accomplishment for the Dallas-based company. Waiakea founder Rob Emmons launched the company in 2012, inspired by the outstanding quality of the water he and his family had become accustomed to while staying in Hawaii. The Waiakea spring source is located on Hawaii’s Big Island near the town of Hilo, and is filtered through the Mauna Loa volcano. It’s the volcano that gives the water its unique composition.

Emmons said the water is rich in sodium, calcium, potassium, and other electrolytes, and has a pH between 7.8 and 8.8, making it naturally alkaline. Some ordinary bottled water is artificially ionized to make it alkaline, but Emmons said the process has been clinically proven to have side effects that make artificial ionization undesirable in a daily drinking water.

Waiakea’s water also contains 30 mg of silica, which is considered the idea amount. Not only does the silica provide a soft and silky mouthfeel, it has been shown to help prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

But while Waiakea’s water is outstanding, the packaging also plays a role in its popularity. Made entirely of 100 percent recycled polyethylene terephthalate, Waiakea’s packaging is both sustainable and eco-friendly. The firm is one of the first premium bottled waters in the world to be certified Carbon Neutral, which means it has a net zero carbon footprint.
